非政府自然保護団体のInterface Development Interventions(以下IDIS)は、ダバオ市内の全世帯または事業施設がそれぞれ50㎡の雨水集水システムを設置すれば、年間で10万リットル超の雨水が確保できる可能性があると述べた。同システムの設置は、2009年に制定された雨水貯留条例において定められている。
IDISのMary Ann Fuentesは記者会見において、強雨などで市街地に溜まった洪水の水は、トイレのフラッシュ、洗濯用水、食器や車の洗い流しとして再利用することが可能だと説明し、貴重な飲用地下水をそれらに用いるのは勿体ないと指摘した。
同氏はさらに、来たるエルニーニョ現象の影響に備えて、ダバオ市民は節水を最大限に心掛けるべきだと述べた。
一方でダバオ市水道局(Davao City Water District:以下DCWD)は、タロモ-リパダス流域の帯水層より十分な水を供給できると保証している。
